Blair Snively, DVM (Owner, Veterinarian)

Dr. Snively is originally from Maryland and has lived in Central New York and Mississippi. She is happy to call Bedford County her forever-home. She has a bachelor’s degree from both the University of Maryland and Hartwick College. She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. Dr. Snively has worked at a variety of small animal general practices, with experience in private, corporate, and relief medicine. She founded, owned, and operated the only full-service mixed-animal mobile practice in Mississippi for three years prior to relocating to Virginia in 2021.

She worked as the associate veterinarian for a year before purchasing Blue Ridge Animal Hospital in April 2023. Dr. Snively has post-doctorate training in equine and small animal acupuncture and equine chiropractic. Some of her favorite parts of veterinary medicine are general surgery, dermatology, feline behavior, and client education.

Dr. Snively is a life-long horseman and enjoys fox chasing with the Bedford County Hunt Club. In her freetime, you can usually find her in the barn and enjoying her farm with her husband and son. She has three dogs, two cats, a flock of chickens, and five horses.

A fun fact about Dr. Snively is that she taught high school agriculture and coached the University of Maryland Equestrian Team prior to attending veterinary school.

Kristin (Licensed Veterinary Technician)

Kristin is originally from Southaven, Mississippi. She is a licensed veterinary technician with four years’ experience in veterinary medicine and an additional five years’ experience in shelter medicine. Kristin graduated from Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine with a major in Veterinary Medical Technology in 2020. She was the president of her class!

What she loves most about veterinary medicine is getting to know both the patients and clients on a personal level and bonding with them. “I don’t want to visit somewhere that feels transactional, so I know clients don’t either. Plus, I want to get to know your fur babies through every life stage!” says Kristin.

Kristin is very passionate about end-of-life care. She sees this as a sacred time as a veterinary professional, one in which we can bring peace to the ailing. She takes this role very seriously. After Kristin lost a beloved pet, she completed a course to become a Pet Loss Specialist to better understand and assist both clients and patients in this transition.

During Kristin’s personal time, she enjoys spending time with her four children, two cats, and her Great Dane! Kristin is looking forward to meeting each client and patient at BSVS. A fun fact about Kristin: she used to work with Dr. Snively in Mississippi as a certified veterinary technician at her mixed-animal ambulatory practice!

In her spare time, Maddie loves fishing, tubing, and staying at her family’s lake house. She is looking forward to learning new skills at BSVS. Her enthusiasm is contagious at the clinic and she is an extremely hard worker, helping keep people on task and helping to improve daily efficiency.
